Jaguars to sign Roy Robertson-Harris

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears Quinn Harris-USA TODAY Sports

According to the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be signing former Chicago Bears defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris to a three-year, $24.4 million contract with $14 million guaranteed.

This is a hefty payday for the 2016 undrafted free agent from UTEP, and as of right now his eight million dollar average annual salary squarely puts the Bears into 2022 comp pick territory.

Robertson-Harris spent his entire rookie year on the reserve/non-football illness list, but from 2017 through 2020 he appeared in 52 games with 13 starts. He has racked up 75 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 30 QB hits, 9 tackles for loss, 6 passed defended, and a fumble recovery during his four year Bears career.

The Bears currently have Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, Mario Edwards Jr., and LaCale London under contract on the defensive line.

It’s been expected all offseason that Robertson-Harris wasn’t going to return, and now the 27-year old will try to help the Jaguars improve their 31st ranked defense.
