NFL Draft Results 2021: Chicago Bears take Khalil Herbert after a trade back with the Seahawks

NCAA Football: Senior Bowl Practice Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears have taken Virginia Tech running back Khalil Herbert with the 217th overall pick in the sixth round.

The Bears picked up this selection in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks when they sent their 208th overall pick for Seattle’s 217th overall and 250th overall this year. Seattle took bit offensive tackle Stone Forsythe with 208 they got from the Bears.

Herbert (5’9”, 210 lbs) played his first four years at Kansas before transferring to Virginia Tech for the 2020 season, and with the Hokies he racked up 1,183 rushing yards (7.6ypc) with 8 TDs, and he caught 10 balls for 179 yards and a TD, but he was also their kick returner with 16 returns good for a 26.9 average.

Scouts call him a one cut and go guy perfect for a zone based blocking scheme, they say he runs with good power and balance, and his speed is decent with a 4.46 forty. Also, in his over 500 touches during his collage career he only fumbled 2 times.
