The Chicago Bears stood pat and used the fifth round pick they received from the Carolina Panthers in the Teven Jenkins trade to take another big, mauling, nasty offensive lineman, Missouri’s Larry Borom.
Borom will need to be coached up, but he has plenty of things in his tape that are good. If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Bears o-line coach Juan Castillo these last two offseasons, it’s that he loves thick, heavy-handed, powerful prospects.
We took a quick trip around the Twitterverse to see what the buzz was about Borom, and here’s some of what Twitter had to say.
Interesting fifth rounder for Bears. Larry Borom has "talent to be a second rounder" according to one scout. Another had him in third, another in the fourth. They predicted he would go later because of conditioning issues. If he gets it together, he can be a starting RT or G.

The #Bears took Mizzou OL Larry Borom in the fifth round. I like the value at DB better, but Borom is a fun add.

He’s a big-bodied lineman who can play tackle and guard. Plays with a mean streak. I like the pick overall.
Wow Bears fans! A couple of weeks ago I talked on SCORE about 3 lesser known OT prospects I loved and Larry Borom was one of them. Now I’m convinced they see Jenkins on left side because Borom won’t be but could play guard too. Best of all, this kid may be nastier than Teven

Watched Larry Borom at Mizzou. Kid has a nasty streak in him a mile wide. Good add.

Congratulations #Bears @lborom_ is a big, powerful man with balance and coordinated feet. I told him recently not worry about not seeing his name up high in the mocks ... because he's going to be just fine. He can play RT or Guard. @JoePanos1 pic.twitter.com/H4LLgb3pLo
Dane Brugler on new Bears OL Larry Borom: “Overall, Borom is a messy mauler and it doesn’t always look pretty, but his hands are heavy and his anchor is strong, showing enough athleticism to hold up in space and develop into a sixth-offensive lineman for an NFL squad.”

@lborom_ Larry Borom? More like Larry BROOM with how he sweeps away defensive players with ease. LOVE this pick!!!!

Larry Borom out of Mizzou is another mean dude to throw in on the Bears’ O-line.
— Erik Duerrwaechter (@EDuerrwaechter) May 1, 2021
His technique is all over the place and needs a lot of fixing. But he’ll start and finish any bar fight in the trenches.
Larry Borom was drafted with pick 151 of round 5 in the 2021 draft class. He scored a 8.65 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 156 out of 1152 OG from 1987 to 2021. https://t.co/Z44Y7ekLR7 #RAS #Bears pic.twitter.com/L6gmX10ndK
