According to our guy Bill Zimmerman, host of the fantastic Bears Banter podcast, Chicago Bears nose tackle Eddie Goldman intends to report to training camp this July at Halas Hall.
“I can confirm from a source very close to the situation that the Bears’ Eddie Goldman will indeed be reporting to training camp on time,” Zimmerman Tweeted on Wednesday evening. “He will not he holding out or opting out as any of the recent rampant speculation has suggested.”
The Bears have yet to announce their camp schedule, but what ever it ends up being it’s a relief to know that Chicago’s 6’3’, 318 pounder will be back at his familiar spot wreaking havoc on opposing offensive lines.
The 27-year old Goldman opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but with Goldman back in 2021 the Bears defensive front just got a lot tougher.
Goldman is one of the better run defenders in the entire league, and him returning will also allow Bilal Nichols to return to his natural position of 5-Technique defensive end.
Even though he missed OTAs and minicamp this offseason, the Bears have said they expect Goldman to report to training camp with head coach Matt Nagy saying he’s “confident” he would be there. Teammate Danny Trevathan said the same thing publicly as well. “It’s going to great to have him this year, I know he’s going to be here this year.” Trevathan said from their minicamp last week. “He’s going to come ready to work.”
You guys excited at the news that Goldman is back?
