Justin Fields inspiring on and off the field

Fields has yet to take a snap or suit up, but there are a number of ways he is already stepping forward and embracing a leadership role.

NFL: Chicago Bears Minicamp Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Scott Morrow has never seen the Chicago Bears field a true franchise quarterback. Morrow, 41, was shot while walking through Humboldt Park. While all of the normal thoughts went through his head—family, friends, obligations—he apparently also had time for hope. In this case, the hope of seeing a franchise quarterback in Navy and Orange.

However, Fields did more than just inspire Morrow indirectly. He also visited the recovering gunshot victim in person. Fields and his parents visited gunshot victim, who is still in need of a lot of medical care. He brought a jersey and perhaps a bit more hope to a fan going through a very difficult time.

This is the most recent (and perhaps most dramatic) example of Fields trying to go out of his way to shoulder the role of a leader for the city of Chicago. If he is even half as good at playing football as he is at engaging fans, the young man has a bright future ahead of him.
