Ryan Pace Bracket Challenge: Draft Round 2 (‘2’ vs. ‘3’)

It really seems like Pace struggles to draft players on the offense, but the top seeds in this bracket challenge suggest that hope springs eternal among Chicago fans.

The offseason face-offs continue, and it’s time to look at Ryan Pace’s draft triumphs and trip-ups. Whether you choose to use hindsight or what was known about the players at the time, fans should vote on how they feel about Chicago’s draft moves. Already, there have been some upsets, but this particular stage of competition involves three moves that have followed chalk and one Eddie supplanting another.

Best

#2: Teven Jenkins - the offensive tackle has yet to play a snap of professional football, but he has the attitude that the Chicago offensive line has needed for far too long. This likely help to propel him to his 58/42 victory of Adrian Amos.

#6: Eddie Jackson - while he has not played at the highest level recently, the safety has at least one season as a 1st-Team All-Pro, and there are reasons to hope that under Desai he might return to at least Pro Bowl-level play.

Worst

#2: Adam Shaheen - once dubbed Baby Gronk, the man whose plan for the draft included eating a lot of Chipotle strangely never became a top offensive weapon. He did, however, get taken more than fifty spots ahead of Jonnu Smith and more than a hundred spots ahead of Bears’ fan George Kittle.

#3: Kevin White - Ryan Pace’s first ever draft pick, in 2015 Football Outsiders projected him to show poorly, saying “do not be surprised to see White’s name, along with Marquise Goodwin and Jacoby Jones, in the inevitable stream of articles around the 2018 combine about players who ran fast 40-yard dashes but made little impact in the NFL.” Injuries turned even that level of production into wishful thinking.
