On Tuesday the Chicago Bears announced that general manager Ryan Pace has promoted six members of their football operations staff, with five of those promotions coming within their scouting department and one from their player development side of things.
Jeff King, who has been with the Bears since 2016 most recently as their Assistant Director of Pro Scouting, has been promoted to Director of Pro Scouting. He played in the NFL from 2006 to 2013 with the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals.
Sam Summerville, who has been with the Bears since 2012, has been promoted to National Scout after most recently serving an an Area Scout for the Southeast region. Some players scouted by Summerville include Roquan Smith, Eddie Jackson, Eddie Goldman, Darnell Mooney and Tarik Cohen. In 2019 Summerville was named the NFC Scout of the Year by the Fritz Pollard Alliance.
Scott Hamel will go from Midwest Area Scout to Southeast Area Scout, with Brendan Rehor becoming Chicago’s new Midwest Area Scout after working as a Combine Scout, and Drew Raucina is their new Combine Scout after serving as a Scouting Assistant.
LaMar “Soup” Campbell has been moved up to the Bears Vice President of Player Engagement after previously working as their Director of Player Engagement since 2017.
