Teams need to trim their 90-man offseason roster by five players before Tuesday, August 17 at 4:00 p.m., and the Chicago Bears have already parted ways with three players. Earlier today they announced that offensive lineman Gage Cervenka, wide receiver Jester Weah, and defensive back Dionte Ruffin were waived.
The Bears have also yet to announce the signing of offensive lineman Jason Peters, so once that becomes official they’ll need an extra roster spot for him. Chicago also has running back Tarik Cohen and offensive lineman Germain Ifedi still on the PUP list, so if either of those two are activated a spot will need to be made for them as well.
Cervenka was just recently signed as the Bears were battling several injurie along their o-line, and he only played a few special team’s snaps on Saturday against the Dolphins. Weah was a member of the Bears offseason roster all year, and on Saturday he was targeted once in his 12 reps on offense.
Ruffin was in for 17 snaps against Miami, and he had a tackle and a fumble recovery which led to this alley-oop, windmill dunk.

NFL rosters must be down to 80 on the Tuesday following the second preseason game, and then down to 53 on the Tuesday following that third game.
