Good morning. It’s Justin Fields Day.
Alternately: Did anything happen in the last week while I was out?
While the Justin Fields era officially began with about two minutes to go in the first half last week against Cincinnati amidst a defensive onslaught that just kept the game out of reach for the Bengals, it begins in earnest today as Fields gets the start over a hobbled Andy Dalton.
Sure, over two games the offense hasn’t been much to write home about, but last week the Dalton-led first drive ended in a touchdown to Allen Robinson, and while the Fields-led offense had some hiccups in timing, protection and standard-issue rookie miscues, the ceiling should only be better from here.
Fields’ first start? Oh, just against Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney, and a Browns defense that has 3 sacks and 10 QB hits (per PFR) this season.
The defense’s assignment? Oh, just Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt paired with Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.
There’s a reason the Browns started the year as a conversation piece in the AFC title picture with the Bills and the Chiefs. That being said, wouldn’t it be nice for the Navy and Orange to start the Justin Fields Era with a solid win against a good team?
Let’s get after it. Bear Down, my friends.
Hey guys, the WCG Sunday Livestream would like to ask: Did you know Justin Fields is starting today?
Today we’ll get into breaking down a lot of what went right and what went wrong the last two games, a lot of Justin Fields discussion, what to expect, live inactives, overs and unders, and the usual good time you expect out of the WCGSL.
Of course, there are the usual assortment of ways to get a hold of us:
- Here. These comments. The comments still work, right?

- And over on our Twitter accounts: Steven, Sam and Jeff.
As per usual, we’ll go live around 9:30 AM CT and talk with you for a couple hours. See you then!
