There was a buzz circulating this morning at Halas Hall that nose tackle Eddie Goldman was dealing with an injury, and the first injury report from the Chicago Bears has confirmed that. Goldman was one of two Bears that did not practice today, and there were four players that were limited.

  • Eddie Goldman, DL, Knee/ankle - DNP
  • Jimmy Graham, TE, Non-injury/resting veteran - DNP
  • Joel Iyiegbuniwe, ILB, Shoulder - LP
  • Khalil Mack, OLB, Groin - LP
  • Darnell Mooney, WR, Back - LP
  • Robert Quinn, OLB, Back - LP

The other seven players listed on today’s report all practiced in full.

NBC Sports Chicago’s Adam Hoge is reporting that it’s believed Goldman hurt himself at Monday’s practice. Head coach Matt Nagy will meet the media on Thursday and I’m sure he’ll give an update to the severity of the injury.

The Bears gave themselves some d-line protection in case Goldman can’t go by signing 6’8”, 295 pound Margus Hunt (34-years old) and 6’2”, 293 pound Damion Square (32) to their practice squad. To make room for the veteran defenders they released Auzoyah Alufohai and Artavis Pierce.

Both Mack and Quinn popping up on the report for week one is a bit concerning, but these two spent much of the 2020 season practicing in a limited capacity, so this could just be the norm for them.
