Best Bets: 49ers at Vikings

How to bet the Monday Night Football game

Let me get this straight: The San Francisco 49ers, coming off a tough loss, are touchdown favorite against last year’s NFC North champion Minnesota Vikings? The team that went an amazing 11-0 in one score games because they just know how to win games?

Yeah, that checks out.

The 49ers are one of the best teams in the conference, the odds-on favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this year, and get an excellent opportunity to “get right” after the Browns threw a wrench in their gears last week. The Vikings defense has been gashed by everyone other than the Bears and Panthers this year. They’re a blitz heavy squad. The 49ers are built on getting the ball out quickly to allow their playmakers to do their thing. That’s a dream matchup for Kyle Shanahan.

On the other side of the ball, the Vikings simply aren’t the same squad without Justin Jefferson. They struggled to move the ball consistently against the Bears, who had one of the worst defenses in the league through the first month. The 49ers defense can get after it and without a viable explosive element in the passing game, should be able to bottle up Kirko. Cousins is talented enough to provide at least a few points toward the total, but I’m betting the 9ers will provide 30+ in this one, making the over the easy pick.

Picks: 49ers -6.5, Over 43.5
