A rematch of last year’s Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. Both squads currently own the #1 seed in each conference and, while there’s plenty of football left to play, it sure feels like this could be a preview of this year’s final game as well. Both teams have done what great teams manage to do - win most of the games they should by finding a way each week.
The Eagles only blemish on the year came against the Jets in Week 6 while the Chiefs dropped the opener to the Lions and a weird one in Denver with Mahomes off his game. Both teams are deep, talented, and well coached. Both teams are also coming off a bye week, so they are well rested. The NFL did this on purpose. They knew this could be a huge draw and a pseudo-Super Bowl-like atmosphere is giving this non-conference game elevated standing.
Here’s what I normally like to do in games that I think are a coinflip - just take the underdog. The Eagles come in as field goal underdogs and I see no reason why they can’t win this one. They’re as talented as any team in the league and have the best record in the NFL. I’m waffling on the over / under. I think it could be a high flying affair but the Chiefs have not been the juggernaut of old. They are somehow carried by their defense this year and most of their games have finished well below the total for their games (2 overs to 7 unders). The Eagles have played more of their games with over hitting (5 overs to 4 unders) but it’s not an obvious pick here. I’ll say under now but I reserve my right to change it six times in the next few hours.
