Justin Fields currently has a passer rating of 93.3, good for 13th in the league among qualifying quarterbacks. He has been nominated for two FedEx Air Player of the Week awards this season already. Now, after rushing for 104 yards on 18 carries, he’s been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week award. Last year, he joined Lamar Jackson and Taysom Hill as the only non-running back to ever win that award.
For people who are honest about his performance, it’s probably no surprise that he’s been nominated for his role in the near-upset against the Detroit Lions. Fields played exceptionally well, putting together a coordinated attack with his arm and with his legs. It’s notable that Fields performed so well on the ground even against the stingy Detroit running defense.
He’s up against Jaylen Warren of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Devin Singletary of the Houston Texans. Fans can support Fields by voting at NFL.com/FedEx until Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, Fields will obviously need to build on the highlights of Sunday’s game and try to close out the season strong—despite not having an aggressive coaching staff willing to take advantage of complete skillset.
