How to bet the full Sunday slate of NFL games

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers Milwaukee Journal Sentinel-USA TODAY NETWORK

The Chicago Bears can’t lose this weekend because they are enjoying their Week 13 bye. That gives us the opportunity to pick a game from the rest of the Sunday slate to focus in on and holy smokes, folks, do we have a good one. A rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game (that, unfortunately, wasn’t much of a contest) with the San Francisco 49ers back in the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. As it stands heading into this contest, this is the number one and two seeds in the NFC facing off and could determine who gets the bye week in the playoffs. Stakes are plenty high for the two NFC titans.

So why are the Eagles underdogs at home? The 49ers appear to have recovered from their October swoon with a 3-0 November after their Week 9 bye week. They outscored those three opponents 92-30 and are seemingly healthy on offense. The 49ers have scored at least 30 points in all but one of their eight wins on the year and have held their opponent under 20 in eight contests. They’re good on offense, good on defense. This is a team finally ready to win it all.

The Eagles though are the defending NFC champs. A battle tested team that knows how to win big games. This Eagles offense is equally as good as the 49ers, scoring the same amount of points to this point in the season. Their defense hasn’t been as dominant as the 49ers but the defensive line can take over games.

Overall, I like the over the most here, but sometimes big games like this get a playoff atmosphere that stifles points early. Still, I’m rolling with the over. As for the spread, getting to take the 10-1 home team as a +3 underdog feels like cheating. I’ll take them to win outright too. The 49ers may be the team that many expect to break through in the playoffs, but the Eagles are the king and the king knows how important it is to stay on top to set themselves up for a run through the playoffs again.
