Chicago Bears bye week preview: Look-ahead lines and draft implications

The Chicago Bears do not have a game this week. This isn’t breaking news for die-hard fans.

But even though they are catching some rest and relaxation this week, there is still plenty going on around the league that will affect the Bears as we head into the final month-plus of the season.

For starters, the Bears’ next opponent is the Detroit Lions, whom the Bears just played three weeks ago. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Bears are 5-point underdogs at home. The total is set at 46.5 points.

This week the Lions are facing the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans.

Elsewhere in the NFC North, the Minnesota Vikings are also on their bye week and the Green Bay Packers are taking on the Kansas City Chiefs at Lambeau Field on Sunday Night Football.

Week 16 - Dec. 24 - vs. Arizona Cardinals

Draft implications

For those who are already looking forward to 2024 and the NFL Draft, the Bears currently have the No. 4 overall pick of their own and the No. 1 pick via the Carolina Panthers.

The teams currently between the two Bears’ picks are a pair of two-win teams. The New England Patriots, who are hosting the Los Angeles Chargers and the Arizona Cardinals, who are playing at the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Panthers are facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with their new interim head coach, Chris Tabor, former Bears special teams coordinator.
