Good morning. Welcome to the home stretch of the season. Five to go.
And that stretch starts off today with a rematch against a team the Chicago Bears should have beaten three weeks ago up by two scores with four minutes to play. Between that loss to the Detroit Lions and the collapse against the Denver Broncos, it’s fun to think about a Bears team that had a shot at being 6-6 at this point in the year and in possession of the #1 overall pick at the time of this post (thanks, Carolina! And thanks Pittsburgh, I suppose.).
Unfortunately, reality says the Bears are at 4-8 with their own shot at a natural top-5 pick and the continued unending questions about the futures of Justin Fields, Matt Eberflus, Luke Getsy and Ryan Poles, because as Bears fans, we just aren’t allowed to have nice things.
We have another five weeks and a whole offseason to figure all that out. Meanwhile, the Bears’ defense is playing much more resurgent football, they are somehow a .500 team over the last 8 games, and today is a revenge day, 13 days after Matt Eberflus got his first win over a division opponent.
The nice thing about the Navy and Orange having another team’s (higher) first round pick is that it makes rooting for Bears wins that much better.
Cheer free and easy, folks. Bear Down, my friends.
Last week over the bye the WCG Sunday Livestream held our first week of practice since our own two week bye, and we had a lot of catching up to do. Today, we come in fresh off the knowledge that Mitch Trubisky truly was a Bears’ asset worthy of the #2 overall pick.
Or not. But we have to acknowledge Pittsburgh’s gargantuan efforts over the last two weeks to deliver the Bears the #1 overall pick this year.
Of course, if you want to join in the fun, here’s how you do it:
