The Chicago Bears take on the Arizona Cardinals for the 95th time on Sunday, and they hold the all-time lead in the series, 59-29-6. The first time these two franchises squared off was on November 28, 1920, at Chicago’s Normal Park, and it was the Chicago Cardinals that was the home team hosting the Decatur Staleys. Chicago won 7 to 6 with a Paddy Driscol extra point being the difference in the game.
The Staleys moved to Chicago in 1921, and they changed their name to the Bears in 1922.
The Cardinals played in Chicago and won two championships for the city until moving to St. Louis in 1960. They called Missouri home until heading to Arizona in 1988 when they were known as the Phoenix Cardinals. In 1994 they decided to represent the whole state of Arizona and changed their name.
*This thread indicated the Cardinals can trace their roots back to 1899 when they were known as the Morgan Athletic Association.
These teams last played in 2021, and the Cardinals won 33 to 22 behind Kyler Murray’s 182 total yards, although Andy Dalton’s 4 interceptions had a say in the outcome as well.
One of the more memorable games in this series took place in 2006.
