The latest Bears Banter Podcast has dropped!

The Chicago Bears made some news on Wednesday, announcing the dismissal of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and announced that head coach Matt Eberflus would be returning for a third season with the Chicago Bears.

After those announcements, Ryan Poles, Eberflus and Kevin Warren addressed the media at Halas Hall.

To breakdown everything that happened on Wednesday, The Score’s Laurence Holmes joined the podcast to discuss it!

We discussed the decisions to fire Getsy and retain Eberflus, and we talked about Ryan Poles’ process in doing so, as well as some reaction to Kevin Warren’s comments from his press conference.

Holmes had some interesting things to say about the next offensive coordinator. He says that if Fields remains and has to learn his third offense in four years, while it’s not ideal, Justin can do it if he has the right teacher.

“If the investment in Justin Fields is going to be that these next two years, we need to make a huge jump. Make sure that the person you hire to be the offensive coordinator is in agreement that Justin is the guy, and that buy-in to me is so important,” Holmes stated.

“I think that’s one of the things, honestly, that held Luke Getsy back. If felt like he was trying, similarly to Nagy, where he was looking at the dry-erase board and saying, ‘Well, this is the way it’s supposed to work,’ instead of ‘What works best for you?’ Let’s make this a collaboration of offensive thought and see if we can come to a consensus as to how we are going to win games.”

See, Bears fans, I can show both sides of a conversation and not make everything about Caleb Williams!
